This report examines the functioning of the Tribes Advisory Council established under the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution of India. This is the first ever study on the Tribes Advisory Councils in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. The report concludes that the Tribes Advisory Councils ought to be replaced by the Autonomous District Councils as provided under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
